Children. Honestly, I don’t know where to start this post because it hits so deeply, as it should with each and everyone of us, because we all were once children with desires, needs and even issues. When we were children, some issues we hid, some we told, and then other issues we constantly repeated to ourselves allowing it to become a part of us whether the thoughts or words were positive or negative. Fact is, they were there…issues.
As a matter of fact, I was reading in Mark Chapter 9 (Amplified), and there was a boy, someone’s son, who had what was called a dumb spirit causing him to do things involuntarily. Jesus asked the father of the child, how long has the boy been like this? His father answered Jesus – from the time he was a little boy. From there, Jesus delivered the child from the unclean spirit that caused him to behave a certain way, and the child was healed.
Amplified Bible (AMP)
18And wherever it lays hold of him [so as to make him its own], it dashes him down and convulses him, and he foams [at the mouth] and grinds his teeth, and he [falls into a motionless stupor and] is wasting away. And I asked Your disciples to drive it out, and they were not able [to do it].
19And He answered them, O unbelieving generation [without any faith]! How long shall I [have to do] with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to Me.
20So they brought [the boy] to Him, and when the spirit saw Him, at once it completely convulsed the boy, and he fell to the ground and kept rolling about, foaming [at the mouth].
21And [Jesus] asked his father, How long has he had this? And he answered, From the time he was a little boy.
22And it has often thrown him both into fire and into water, intending to kill him. But if You can do anything, do have pity on us and help us.
23And Jesus said, [You say to Me], If You can do anything? [Why,] all things can be (are possible) to him who believes!
24At once the father of the boy gave [an eager, piercing, inarticulate] cry with tears, and he said, Lord, I believe! [Constantly] help my weakness of faith!
25But when Jesus noticed that a crowd [of people] came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, You dumb and deaf spirit, I charge you to come out of him and never go into him again.
26And after giving a [hoarse, clamoring, fear-stricken] shriek of anguish and convulsing him terribly, it came out; and the boy lay [pale and motionless] like a corpse, so that many of them said, He is dead.
27But Jesus took [a strong grip of] his hand and began lifting him up, and he stood.
28And when He had gone indoors, His disciples asked Him privately, Why could not we drive it out?
29And He replied to them, This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting.
Point of all this, we need to seriously pray for our children all the time – starting when they are small! There may not be an unclean spirit making them totally out of control, however, there are unclean things and spirits around all the time with the capability of influencing our children in the worse ways. Therefore, don’t believe for one second that a child can’t be tormented mentally, emotionally or spiritually because they are TOO YOUNG. (I have heard this one) These are things we CAN’T see. Don’t always look for the physical abuse as there really could be something happening just as bad on the inside.
Take action and pray through all the actions you take to help your child. In many cases, fast and pray for your children. Notice that Jesus ordered the unclean spirit to go away and never to return again. Have you ever noticed a bad habit returning? Same deal. In the same way we need to renew our minds, constantly make it natural for your child to renew their mind, reminding them of good things that their thought life be filled with good.
One of the easiest places to enter is a child’s mind as there is a window of openness for a short period of time. Take advantage before the child learns to go quiet, fear, hide or lie. Children have issues that simply can’t be ignored.
Do as Jesus to the children:
Mark 10:16And He took them [the children up one by one] in His arms and [fervently invoked a] blessing, placing His hands upon them.
God knows, in this world, they need a blessing.
